Dave and Amy , 2009
32” x 40” charcoal
I did this as my final drawing for Life Drawing 2. A life portrait of two models was to be drawn in the style of any chosen artist; I chose to emulate the style of Baroque painter Caravaggio. What attracts me to his work is his use of bright tenebrist light and realism. I paid close attention to anatomy, proportion, and form as I shaded. I can pick out some places on Dave’s figure that need adjustments, but for the most part, I think this drawing is successful.

Vectored Self Portrait , 2009
Vector art made with Adobe Illustrator CS4
Creation of a self portrait using the pen tool in Illustrator was an eye opening assignment in Digital Image Making. A tremendous amount of time goes into creating digital art of this type, and I could easily continue working on this piece, making it more detailed. The file type of the original project also has qualities that other lack; because the hand drawn points and colors are mathematically mapped in relation to each other, the enlarged image will never pixelate.
